Cell phones cause buzz

The Aspen City Council directed its staff Monday to look into regulating the use of cell phones while driving within city limits.

The issue was first raised by Councilman Terry Paulson several weeks ago during an informal work session. But Monday night’s directive is the first formal action to come out of City Hall.

“I’m not out to get cell phone users,” Paulson said last night, but he said he has received many calls from people who are similarly concerned about distracted drivers not paying sufficient attention to the road and pedestrians while they chat on a cell phone.
