Celebration of life

Dear Editor:

It is nearly two years (less three months) that Jack and his friends celebrated his 100th birthday. Now, I recall seeing many of those same friends and acquaintances as we just paid tribute to him with a memorial service and social gathering on Nov. 2 at Messiah Lutheran Church.

Since he passed away on Oct. 25, there have been many phone calls, cards, letters and, yes, food and flowers, from this valley and from great distances. I thank you all for your thoughtful sympathy, kindness and sentimental memories. Jack would be so pleased and honored with the tremendous level of support. It was truly a heart-warming event as we celebrated his adventurous, long life of 101 years and 9 months.
