Castrate them

Dear Editor:

Almost everyday in our newspapers, The Aspen Times and the Aspen Daily News, we read about sex offenders’ attacks or attempts on children and young women. If we turn on the TV news there is more of the same, including rapes of young women and even on occasion a 75- or 80-year-old grandmother! The other day I was watching NBC News, and there was a meeting shown about registered sex offenders on the Front Range and people saying there is no cure for these people! That is not true! There is a cure!

Turn convicted sex offenders into “eunuchs.” These were the castrated men that had guard duty in harems owned by sheiks and what they can’t mentally control will be gone! Of course, some “goody two-shoes” will say that is inhumane, but what is more inhumane than what they are doing to children?

I often think about the 9-year-old girl who was taken from her bedroom, raped and buried alive by a neighbor back east somewhere. In Saturday’s paper was the story about the 7-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted, murdered and thrown into a landfill. This is never going to stop so the legal authorities need to increase punishment or whatever it takes to help curb some of these people. I have nine granddaughters from 7 years old to 45, and I worry about each of them when I hear or read about these happenings! Do whatever it takes to protect your children; they are priceless!
