Cash this reality check
I read with interest the “Biz Buzz” item regarding rents in mountain towns and counties (Inside Business, Aug. 28). “Average rent in Aspen is $1,187 per month.” Average implies that there are lower and higher rents. Higher, I understand, having lived 57 years in the Roaring Fork Valley, however, I have tried for seven years to find ANYTHING in the upper valley for that price (or close to it).
Your figures sound like elitist real estate broker propaganda to me. How about a reality check on rents in the upper valley?

Onsite parking won out over a Turkish bath at a new lodge planned to be built across from City Market. Aspen’s elected officials didn’t want to burden the neighborhood with offsite parking for the new hotel.
