Carolyn Cofield Hedstrom

Carolyn Cofield Hedstrom died peacefully on Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the home of her daughter, Carol Brown, in Newton, Mass.

Carolyn was a longtime Aspen resident, first moving there with her husband, Olof Hedstrom (1909-1998), in 1970. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1910, studied art, lived briefly in Chicago, and settled with Olof in Hartford City, Ind., where they raised a family.

Carolyn’s interest in art was first expressed in fashion design and painting. She then became a master weaver, teaching privately and at Colorado Mountain College. Her work is owned by many Aspenites.



She is survived by three daughters: Carol Brown, Ana Lisa Hedstrom of La Honda, Calif. and Cynthia Hedstrom of New York, N.Y.; and five grandchildren: Corin, Sam, Amanda and Louisa Brown, and Maya Hedstrom Brenner.
