Carbondale’s new PAC3 venue announces shows

CARBONDALE – PAC3, the performing arts center which opens in Carbondale later this month, has announced its first schedule of events. The multi-use venue, which seats 540 for general-admission shows, is located inside the Third Street Center.

PAC3 debuts May 29, with a concert by Canadian singer-guitarist Bruce Cockburn, with violinist Jenny Scheinman opening.

The MarchFourth Marching Band, a Northwestern act that combines a brass band with circus-like components, is set for May 30. Hayes Carll, a Texas singer-songwriter whose recent album, “Kmag Yoyo,” has hit the country charts, is set for June 23. Fellow Texas singer-songwriter, James McMurtry, performs on July 12.

The local burlesque troupe, Viva La Woman, is at PAC3 for a two-night stand, July 15-16. The singing-dancing-comedy group features Katrina Byars, Tanya Black, Ellie Davis, Brieanna Hayes, Ananda Banc and April Clark.

California singer-songwriter Dave Alvin leads his current band, the Guilty Ones, to a performance on July 22. Yet another Texas musician, Robert Earl Keen, is set for Aug. 16.

Rock pianist Leon Russell, a recent inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, performs on Aug. 17. The current schedule concludes with singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell on Oct. 14.
