Carbondale on right path

Dear Editor:

I would like to thank the citizens of Carbondale for their vote of support to extend the half cent recreation sales tax and to issue revenue bonds to build a recreation center, new trails and bike paths, and begin construction on the Gateway River Park and Carbondale Nature Park.

The Parks and Recreation Commission will continue their diligent efforts representing your wishes and desires as the town moves forward on developing these new recreation and park projects.

I would also like to thank the outgoing town trustees and town manager, John Hier, who have shown so much support for parks and recreation during the past three years that I’ve been here. We have accomplished so much, with much more to come!

Congratulations to the newly elected Board of Trustee members. I look forward to working with you as we embark on accomplishing the future parks and recreation needs and desires of our citizens.

Jeff Jackel

recreation director
