Carbondale man killed in Hwy. 133 crash

CARBONDALE ” A 20-year-old Carbondale man was killed Saturday after he lost control of his vehicle on Highway 133.

A 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Abraham Flores-Ramirez was heading north when it went into a broadside skid, the Colorado State Patrol said. It crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Linda Morton, 20, of Clovis, N.M.

Flores-Ramirez was ejected as the Cobalt spun around following impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the patrol.

A passenger in the Cherokee suffered minor to moderate injury; Morton was uninjured.

Flores-Ramirez was not wearing a seat belt. Morton and her passenger were wearing seat belts, according to the patrol.

It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash, the patrol said. The accident remains under investigation.
