Calling all vets

At this year’s Fourth of July parade the community will again have an opportunity to acknowledge the sacrifice of all the men and women who, as Americans have done for 226 years, put their lives on hold to serve our country.

Their efforts will be recognized in the parade entry, “Tribute to Our Valley Veterans.” We also salute the young men and women defending us today in Operation Enduring Freedom.

All U.S. military veterans and active duty personnel, locals and visitors, are invited to walk in the Aspen parade with our entry. Participants should locate the group along the Hyman Avenue parade route at 11:30 a.m.

Veterans needing transportation, or anyone who can provide transportation, should call ahead. For more information, veterans should call me, Morry, at 923-4343.

As Americans celebrate the Fourth of July we need to remember that the freedoms we enjoy were purchased with the service and sacrifice of our men and women in the military.

Our men and women in uniform are today again defending these freedoms. Please come join the veterans walking or give the vets a big cheer of appreciation from the sidelines.
