Calling all nonprofits
December 6, 2002
The Christmas rush is on, and in this instance it’s all our fault.
We stumbled across an idea we had a couple of years ago to help our local nonprofit organizations and decided it was too good to pass up this year, especially during these difficult economic times when many groups are really struggling to make ends meet.
Trouble is, Christmas is fast approaching, so the nonprofits will have to act quickly to get in on this deal.
It works like this. We’re inviting all nonprofits in the Roaring Fork Valley to send us a wish list of three things they’d like for Christmas. We’ll then publish that list before the big holiday, with the hope that kindhearted people in the valley will help make at least some of those wishes come true.
Obviously, a bigger budget is the first thing most nonprofits would ask for. But that’s not what we’re looking for. These need to be three tangible items that people can give to a local group – items such as new computers, reams of office paper, boxes of pens, or volunteer help at a fund-raiser. The possibilities are endless.
As we said, time is of the essence. We want to publish the wish list on Monday, Dec. 23, meaning we’ll need everyone’s wish lists by Friday, Dec. 20.
