Calling all Democrats
As you know, there has been a rush among the states to move their caucuses and primaries up this election season. In Colorado, our caucuses will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Common Ground meeting house. Democrats are invited to arrive at 5:30 p.m. for dinner and presentations by candidates, and then, by law, the voting will take place at 7 p.m.
As in past years, we will hold all the precinct caucuses at one location ” the Common Ground meeting house instead of the different precincts in order to hear presentations, facilitate discussion among participants, better answer questions concerning voting procedure and serve dinner. All registered Democrats are cordially invited to participate. In order to participate in the caucus vote, one must register as a Democrat by Dec. 5.
Blanca O’Leary, the Pitkin County Democratic Party vice chair and the Obama county coordinator, is hosting an Obama event at her house on Monday, Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m. at 1500 Silver King Drive. She will have registration forms at the event. Alternatively, one may register at the Pitkin County Clerk and Recorder’s Office on Main Street.
The Pitkin County Assembly will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 5:30 p.m. at the Aspen Square conference room. Dinner will be served.
The Colorado State Jefferson Jackson Dinner will be held on Friday, Feb. 29, in Denver. The Pitkin County Democratic party is planning to take two tables. This will be a particularly important event in view of the fact that the National Convention will be held in Denver. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in attending.
We now notify everyone on our list by e-mail before any upcoming Pitkin County Democratic Party event. We can only notify you if you have signed up at a prior event giving Blanca O’Leary your e-mail. If you believe that Blanca may not have your e-mail address, please call her at 920-4969, or call Camilla Auger at 544-0745. Thank you. We look forward to seeing you at these upcoming events!
