Calendar success

Dear Editor:I am always thrilled when people step up to support the arts. Basalt Middle School art students created an amazing art student calendar this year. Fifteen paintings were selected by a committee of students and teachers. These paintings represent positive characteristics such as honesty, forgiveness, honor, tolerance and ownership. Visually the students depicted these terms, and a 2006 calendar was created and sold. The Art Student Calendar project was a huge success with 135 calendars sold. The success is due in part to people who made the purchases and in part to the publicity that this paper has generously contributed. We are also grateful to the Basalt Gallery, the Wyly Community Art Center, Town Center Booksellers and Alpine Bank, all of Basalt, for displaying and selling calendars.Thank you all, and please enjoy the amazing artwork done by these creative BMS students. We look forward to doing the 2007 calendar, which will be out in the fall of 2006.Jacquetta GreenArt instructorBasalt Middle School
