BASALT- Scott Garcia recently joined Cornerstone Mortgage Co. as a senior residential mortgage lender.Garcia’s hiring comes as Cornerstone recently expanded into the state with 16 offices and more than 75 loan officers.In the 17 years he has been lending in the Roaring Fork Valley, Garcia has originated, processed and underwritten more than $1 billion in mortgage loans, according to a press release. Cornerstone Mortgage Co. is a full-service mortgage banker with more than 60 offices in 12 states, including Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. ASPEN – Aspen-based Design Workshop, a landscape architecture, land planning, urban design and strategic services firm, recently won three National ASLA Professional Awards, the highest honors presented by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). Design Workshop will be recognized for its work in September at the ASLA Annual Meeting and EXPO in Washington, D.C. Design Workshop was awarded two ASLA Professional Awards in the Residential Design category for its Transformative Water project in Pitkin County and its Catalina Foothills project in Tucson, Ariz. The third ASLA Professional Award was in the Analysis & Planning category for Isla Palenque, an ecotourism resort master plan in the Republic of Panama.Since 2007, Design Workshop has received five National ASLA Professional Awards. Previous awards include the design of Woody Creek Estate, a contemporary mountain estate garden near Aspen, and Glacier Club, an environmentally focused golf course in Durango.
