Bush, take responsibility

Dear Editor:Here is what George Bush said on Monday, March 20:Bush: “First, just if I might correct a misperception, I don’t think we ever said – at least I know I didn’t say that there was a direct connection between September the 11th and Saddam Hussein.”That is false. In fact, three years ago today, he did just that:”The use of armed forces against Iraq is consistent with the United States and other countries continuing to take the necessary actions against international terrorists and terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations or persons who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001.” (President George W. Bush, letter to Congress, March 21, 2003)We are in Iraq for economic and personal reasons only, and I am sick of being misled by this administration. Our troops, our allies, and the American people deserve responsible leadership that doesn’t ignore the legitimate concerns of its citizens. It’s too late to correct our mistakes, but can’t we at least take responsibility for them?Michael MonroneyAspen
