Buses going too fast

Dear Editor:

I hope someone will talk to Roaring Fork Transportation Authority bus drivers about slowing down. I was on my way to Glenwood at 9:30 Tuesday morning going the 65 mph speed limit. The RFTA bus No. 431 passed me going around 75 or more. When I reached the McDonald’s turnoff the bus was sitting at the stop. Was the driver having a biscuit?!

Why should the bus speed to get to a destination to sit? Why should he speed at all?

Riding a bus that is going 10 to 15 miles over the speed limit is not for me and shouldn’t be for others. It is dangerous for those who ride. A bus going at that speed cannot stop quickly if necessary.

Please, buses, slow down!
