Bus lanes, for mind, body and spirit

Dear Editor:As a frequent RFTA rider and occasional driver to and from Aspen daily, I strongly encourage Aspen voters to add bus lanes from Buttermilk to the roundabout. Vote YES on ballot measure No. 1. Adding bus lanes is a no-lose proposition and saves half-a-million dollars in avoided construction costs. The bus lanes cut travel time by 15 minutes and improve emergency vehicle access. Their construction does not predetermine a specific option for the last miles of the Entrance to Aspen solution and requires no new taxes. If Aspen is committed to supporting the Aspen Idea by nourishing the mind, body and spirit, these bus lanes are a no-brainer. Less stress, pollution and time spent in the car certainly nourishes my mind, body and spirit. After almost 30 years of debate, it’s time to make some progress. Vote YES on ballot measure No. 1.Matthew HamiltonCarbondale
