Burning up with thanks

Dear Editor:

The citizens of the Crested Butte Fire Protection District would like to extend a sincere thank you to Ed Van Walraven, fire marshal, and Orrin Moon, fire inspector, of the Aspen Fire Protection District, for their efforts in assisting us with fire prevention and life and safety education, during our Fire Prevention Week from Oct. 15 to 19. Their dedication to fire prevention and life and safety education is second to none. They were very open and willing to travel to Crested Butte to allow us to utilize their AFPD Life Safety Trailer.

Our kids had a tremendously memorable experience. They were so excited. Their favorite parts were Sparky the Fire Dog movies, seeing the smoke from the smoke machine and climbing out the window and down the ladder to escape! We received all sorts of letters and drawings depicting their learning experiences that were greatly enhanced by the trailer. Thank you for helping us make an everlasting impact on our kids and community.

Ric Ems, fire chief

Scott Wimmer, fire inspector
