Building cross-cultural relationships
This summer nearly 65 participants in English In Action’s programs had the opportunity to attend three wonderful Theatre Aspen performances – “Same Time, Next Year,” “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs” and “The Marvelous Wonderettes.” I would like to express my deep gratitude to the individuals and organizations that made these outings possible – Jim and Brenda Grusecki, Jay and Linda Sandrich, Theatre Aspen and Taster’s Pizza.
English In Action matches immigrant adults with volunteer tutors, and the pairs meet one-on-one on a weekly basis to work on English language skills. We believe that the friendships and strong cross-cultural relationships that develop between our students and tutors help to create a healthy, well-integrated community.
We truly appreciate the opportunity to bring our students, tutors and their children to cultural events like Theatre Aspen performances. Attending a theater performance is a great way to help our adult students practice English and to introduce them to the wealth of enriching activities our community has to offer.
