Builder files suit over Aspen project

Aspen Times Staff Report
Aspen, CO Colorado

ASPEN ” A local builder filed a complaint against an audio equipment business seeking $40,000 for construction work in Aspen, court documents showed Tuesday.

Wodehouse Builders claims Paragon Technology Group LLC in Glenwood Springs did not make the required monthly payments for the project. The project site is listed as 601 Rio Grande Place, Suite 101, Aspen.

Wodehouse is based in Basalt, the complaint states.

The builder alleges Paragon missed a $10,000 monthly payment in December, and three subsequent payments bringing the “principal amount” to $40,000. The total value of the project was estimated at $120,000, as per an agreement.

The agreement called for Paragon to make monthly payments of $10,000 to Wodehouse beginning April 1, 2008, with “the final principal payment plus any accrued interest due on March 1, 2009.”

The suit comes after last week’s arrest of a former Wodehouse employee in Newport Beach, Calif., for allegedly swindling the company out of nearly $1 million between September 2007 and March 2008.

Authorities took Thomas Andrew Kiplingbaugh, 54, of Aspen into custody Feb. 24. He was released the same day after he posted a $50,000 bail.

He is to appear March 17 in Orange County Superior Court in Southern California. It is not clear when he will make an appearance in Pitkin County District Court.

He stands accused of 28 felonies ranging from theft to unauthorized use of a financial transaction device.
