Buddies catch good time
Lake Christine in Basalt was the place to be on Saturday, May 7, as the Buddy Program’s Big and Little Buddies learned how to fly-fish with guides from Trout Unlimited. Sole Lowe and her Buddy Program team created the perfect day for fun outdoor education and also a bit of environmental clean up, too.
Paula and Ken Neubecker, Maureen Bratcher, Matt Burmaster, Dan Bullock and Ernie Bradley from Trout Unlimited offered up their years of fishing expertise to these young Buddies. In addition, Matt from the Colorado Division of Wildlife talked about our local wildlife species and ways to preserve the environment.
Check out the Buddy Program’s website at http://www.buddyprogram.org for more information on this activity, the different volunteer opportunities that the Buddy Program offers, as well as information about Aspen’s best party of the summer – Boogie’s Bash for the Buddies! This fundraising event to support the 600-plus youth in the Buddy Program will be held on Friday, July 1, on Aspen Mountain, with dinner catered by the Little Nell Hotel. Jackie Daly Photography will be the official event photographer!
Many thanks again to the Trout Unlimited team and the Colorado Division of Wildlife for a wonderful day in the great outdoors and also a big thank you to the Buddy Program staff and Big Buddies for everything they do to help our Roaring Fork Valley kids be the best they can be.
