Brown bag days at Sundeck over

I used to live in Aspen. I loved it then and it is still my favorite destination resort in the world.

One problem I had when I lived there and every time I visit, is its lack of affordable brown-bag-type lunch spots available.

But I always managed, and I was always able to bring my brown-bag lunch to the top of Aspen Mountain and sit on the Sundeck and enjoying the million-dollar views. Castle Creek Valley, Maroon Bells, Maroon Valley, Highland Bowl, these are Colorado’s finest.

But now I need to be a millionaire to be able to still enjoy it. I thought that Aspen was leaving behind its stereotype of “for the rich and not the regular guy,” but with that latest move of making the Sundeck primarily available for the CEOs of the world, Aspen is following its very unattractive path as “for the filthy rich and eventually we’ll be rid of these middle-class people.”

Thanks, Pat O’Donnell. By the way, it looks like I’ll go to Squaw Valley this year, their lodge has a hot tub and anyone can enjoy it!
