Bridging the gap

Dear Editor:

English in Action would like to send out a sincere thank-you to the Aspen Art Museum, Annie Henninger (art educator) and Danielle Stephens (education curator).

On April 14, the Aspen Art Museum hosted 17 English in Action students and tutors. We had a fantastic tour of the museum’s galleries and discussed art. The conversation was rich and stimulating and provided a wonderful opportunity to learn new English words relating to art.

Our adult students were so engaged and excited by the activities we did. It gave them a wonderful opportunity to develop their English in a different context than everyday life. Thank you, Aspen Art Museum, for having such a strong outreach program and for reaching out to English in Action.

English in Action is a local nonprofit that helps adult immigrants learn English. We match students with volunteer tutors for one-on-one English classes. We strive to build a strong community through language and cross-cultural friendships.
