Bravo to Fletcher
September 3, 2009
I am bewildered by Bruce Berger’s anger at Alan Fletcher, CEO of the Aspen Music Festival. The Festival is held in a tent, not Symphony Center in Chicago, or Lincoln Center in New York, and in that casual atmosphere, Mr. Fletcher’s opening remarks on the music to be played are brief and always helpful. He also thanks the people whose generosity helps bring this glorious music to us for nine weeks each summer, an expression of gratitude too seldom seen in this world of grumpy letters to the editor.
If Alan Fletcher, in his opening remarks and presence at festival and winter concerts, brings a greater sense of community to Aspen and its unique cultural scene, I say Bravo; we are all the beneficiaries.
