Braun named ACRA president

Debbie Braun has been named president of the Aspen Chamber Resort Association.

Debbie Braun has been promoted to president of the Aspen Chamber Resort Association, succeeding Hana Pevny in the post.Her promotion to the ACRA helm was announced Monday. Braun will be responsible for overall operations and management of the chamber.

A seven-year valley resident, she most recently served as vice president of business development with the ACRA, where she is most recognized for bringing affordable health care to the valley as a board member of the Roaring Fork Community Health Plan. “Being president of a chamber in a community like Aspen is the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Braun in a prepared statement. “I feel that everything I’ve done and accomplished over the past six years has prepared me for this position.”

Prior to joining ACRA staff, Braun served as project manager for the Children’s Diabetes Foundation, with responsibility for management and execution of such events as the Carousel of Hope, which raised $6 million in one night. Before relocating to the valley, she worked as the public relations coordinator for CE Sports in Van Nuys, Calif. Since joining the ACRA in 1999 as a project manager, her ability to execute and excel in programming and member benefits has earned her numerous promotions, according to the chamber. Braun is a 1988 graduate of Northern Arizona University.

“This is an exciting time for the ACRA. We are pleased to have someone of Debbie’s caliber and expertise in chamber operations as president of the ACRA,” said Rick Jones, chairman of the chamber’s board of directors. “Her proven ability to be an effective leader and to work with diverse community groups will greatly benefit the ACRA.”Braun will begin her new role as president on Aug. 1, taking over for Pevny, who will become vice president of AEXJET.
