BOULDER, Colo. ” A Boulder architect and executive with Rocky Mountain Institute, headquartered in Old Snowmass, has been missing since Monday.

Boulder police say 48-year-old Greg Franta was last seen early Monday after having dinner with a family member in Denver on Sunday night. His family filed a missing-person report Tuesday.

Investigators say they have no reason to suspect foul play.

Franta is a vice president of the Rocky Mountain Institute, which develops strategies for renewable energy and energy-efficient construction. He is considered a pioneer in environmental design. RMI is headquartered in Boulder, but also has a location in Boulder.

Franta is co-founder and a past chairman of the American Institute of Architects committee on the environment. He was named the 1998 AIA Colorado Architect of the Year.

According to RMI’s website, under Franta’s leadership, the institute’s Built Environment Team has been recognized as an international leader in designing sustainable, high-performance buildings and communities.

Franta is directing the Built Environment Team’s “Cooling the Warming” initiative, including the recently released film “High Performance Building Perspectives and Practice” in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council. Additionally, as part of “Cooling the Warming,” he will be co-authoring a book on the built environment, according to RMI.
