Aspen Valley Hospital names nurse of the year
Registered nurse Paula Hebbard was named nurse of the year during Aspen Valley Hospital’s celebration of National Nurses Day last week.
Hebbard has worked at the hospital since 1989 in a variety of roles but has spent most of her career at the bedside in the emergency department.
Elaine Gerson, registered nurse and chief clinical officer, spoke of Hebbard’s nursing skills.
“She practices nursing with a confidence and an expertise that are unsurpassed,” Gerson said. “Each and every day she’s worked in health care, her presence has been a blessing to her patients, co-workers and Aspen Valley Hospital.”
Twenty-three nurses were nominated.
Magazine honors Jensen as Colorado’s top dentist
Dr. Robert Jensen recently was recognized as Colorado’s top dentist of 2013 by Denver’s 5280 magazine, a title he has held since 2011.
Jensen also has been awarded the honor of nation’s top dentist, a peer-selected award that he has held since 2004, according to a statement from Jensen’s office.
Jensen graduated with honors from the University of Southern California and has had practices in both California and Aspen. His local practice has been located at the Aspen Business Center for four years.
Myler reappointed to state housing, finance board
David Myler, a board member of the Aspen/Pitkin County Housing Authority from 1991 through 1995, has been reappointed to serve on the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority board of directors.
Gov. John Hickenlooper approved Myler’s reappointment. Myler is an attorney with The Myler Law Firm P.C. in Basalt.
The Colorado Housing and Finance Authority gives loans to low- and moderate-income homebuyers, developers of affordable multifamily rental housing and small and medium-size businesses. It also provides education and technical assistance regarding affordable housing and economic development.
The board has 11 members in all.
Custom Body Fitness expands to new location
Custom Body Fitness is expanding and moving to a different location.
The new 1,600-square-foot studio is at La Fontana Plaza, 600 Highway 133, Unit 8, in Carbondale. It includes showers and cardio equipment.
