Bogus bills discovered

Aspen Times Staff Report

Aspen and Basalt police are investigating reports of several bogus $20 bills that were passed in the area last week, according to a statement from the Aspen Police Department.

The counterfeit bills appear to be forgeries created with a computer scanner. The serial number printed on several of the bogus Jacksons is L36271066D, the statement said.

People who handle money regularly may be able to feel the difference between the counterfeits and genuine bills.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about these or other counterfeit bills being passed to contact the police department.
