EAGLE, Colo. – Officials have found the body of a kayaker missing in Gore Creek.

The body of 29-year-old Vail resident Drew Brian Hunter was discovered at about 10 a.m. Friday after an aerial search by the Colorado National Guard High Altitude Aviation Training Center.

Officials say Hunters’ body was found about 200 yards east of the Eagle River Water Sanitation Building in East Vail.

Sheriff’s officials said the man fell into the fish ladders area of the Black Gore Creek, a tributary of Gore Creek.

Sheriff’s officials began searching for Hunter Thursday afternoon after receiving a call that a man had fallen into the creek.

The search was suspended late Thursday and resumed Friday morning.

Sheriff’s officials say Hunter was originally from Fort Collins.
