Body found near Pearl Pass Road

ASPEN – The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a person whose body was found Friday near Pearl Pass Road.

According to a news release on Saturday, a hiker found the body, partially covered in snow, near a campsite on Pearl Pass Road, near the end of Castle Creek Road.

The hiker called the Sheriff’s Office about 3:30 p.m. to report the finding.

The body has been transported to Grand Junction for an autopsy, according to the release.

“The body appears to be of a middle-aged white male,” the new release stated. “No identification was found with the body, and there is no known biographical information about the person at this time.”

The cause of death was unknown at the time of the news release, which Deputy George Kremer wrote.]
