Boarder hurt in fall at Snowmass

SNOWMASS ” A 27-year-old snowboarder was injured Saturday in a closed area at Snowmass, where his companions found him at the bottom of a 20-foot cliff.

The man was treated by the ski patrol for multiple injuries and taken to a waiting ambulance at the bottom of the ski area for transport to Aspen Valley Hospital, according to the Aspen Skiing Co.

The man was riding in the Elk Camp area at Snowmass, to the skier’s left of the Gray Wolf trail, in a permanently closed area. He was with two companions who reported finding the man at the bottom of the cliff, the Skico said. They called 911 and a nearby ski instructor summoned the ski patrol. The accident occurred at about 1:30 p.m.

The man was wearing a helmet, the Skico said.
