Big boost for girls lacrosse
The Aspen community came together in a big way on Saturday night for the Aspen High School Girls’ Lacrosse program. Girls’ lacrosse is entering its second year at Aspen High School, and as such is a community- and parent-funded sport.
The Aspen Elks’ Lodge hosted a “Burger and Bingo” night to help raise money for the program. The Aspen girls would like to thank the entire membership of Elks Lodge 224 and especially Dick Miller, Ron Bates, Catalina and the entire kitchen staff for helping them raise over a quarter of the total budget for the program. Parents, players, teachers, administrators and community members flocked to this event in such great a number, they drained the kitchen of burgers (thank you to all those who bought tickets but did not eat), created one of the loudest Bingo games ever at the Lodge and generously bid prices up on silent and live auction items donated by the wonderful Aspen/Snowmass community.
A special thank you goes out to double lacrosse parent, Carmen Dowley, for organizing the fundraiser and coordinating the many volunteers that made this such a successful event. Aspen High School will field both varsity and junior varsity teams this spring, and invites all of our supporters to attend our opening series versus Telluride March 18 and 19.
