Big Aspen gov’t

Dear Editor:

Let me see if I understand Mayor Mick correctly. It’s OK for Mick and council to have property owners or developers jump through hoops, in many cases for years (see the Lift 1A project that they eventually killed), and ask for all sorts of things. But if a property owner in back-and-forth negotiation asks for things in return, it’s “blackmail.”

And Mick and his gang, who so object to “tall” buildings, ram through an ordinance to approve the monster structure that will be our new art museum just to cover their behinds, avoid a lawsuit and in the process kill one good restaurant and force a bike shop to relocate. I guess we really are living in the People’s Republic of Aspen.
