BHS scholarship help appreciated
Dear Editor:I would like to thank the staff at Basalt High School and most especially the counseling department for all their hard work over many years in caring for our students and facilitating their opportunities for obtaining scholarships.Ms. Jill KeIIy-Anson and Ms. Linda Evans unfailingly assisted students in organizing their scholarship application packets, making sure all necessary paperwork was present and then patiently copying all the packets for all the students – with no charge to the families for all that paper and copier toner. Six years ago, I volunteered to help BHS copy these packets and experienced all the difficulties associated with meeting these important deadlines, including copier breakdown. Nevertheless, over the years, these amazing people have always remained pleasant, upbeat and positive, in spite of the enormous pressures year-end scholarship duties always bring.I thank them very much for their dedication and love for their students.Eva WinnCarbondale

Basalt High School choir director Brittany von Stein made her first court appearance Wednesday for advisement on the criminal charges filed against her for alleged sexual relations with a student. The criminal case was sealed by a judge’s order so limited information was available.
