Better living

Dear Editor:

Are you 60 or older? Do you have a loved one who is? May is Older Americans Month, a great time to honor older adults and bring attention to the issues that affect older adults. By 2030, one in every five Americans will be 65 or older.

Eagle County Government Adult Services is helping older adults live better today and in the future. We offer programs such as: nutrition (Meals on Wheels), case management, adult protection, health screenings, exercise classes, volunteer opportunities and social activities to keep people independent. We have disabled-accessible vans to provide low-cost transportation to lunches, exercise classes and medical appointments.

Come to Valley Pines in Basalt and have a nutritious lunch or a heart-healthy exercise class. We are here to honor you all year round. In Basalt, call Amy Berens, midvalley site supervisor, at 704-2767.

By working together, we can improve the health and well being of our nation’s older adults and pave the way for better health as we age.
