Aspen, CO ColoradoBette Jean Batchel, 83, passed away on Sunday, July 8, in Glenwood Springs.She was born in Carbondale to John and Sophia (Lamprecht) Patborsek, on Sept. 5, 1923. Bette married Norman Batchel on Aug. 8, 1948, in Rifle. They were valley residents for most of 83 years.Bette and Norm moved from Carbondale to Las Vegas in 1996, where they enjoyed the mild weather and golfing. In 2004, they moved back to Glenwood Springs to be close to family. Bette spent the last couple of years enjoying her great grandsons Bennett and Brigs; they were the light of her life.Bette is preceded in death by her husband, Norman.She is survived by her daughter, Renee Karen Dallman; granddaughter Casey Walter and Walter’s husband Lowell; two great-grandchildren, Bennett and Brigden; and sister Marjorie M. Hatteburg.There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Home chapel. A funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Bette will then go to Mount Olivet Cemetery in Denver.The family asks that memorials be sent to Catholic Charities 1004 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs, CO 81601.
