Be bear aware
Dear Editor:The time of year has now approached us, we need to start educating people on how to dispose of garbage correctly and how to deal with the bears that I have seen in town over the last week. The bears are very inquisitive creatures, they can smell food many miles away, and it is so sad to see these animals having to come into urban areas before they go into hibernation just because people are careless or are uneducated, whilst there is enough food in their natural environment.I would like to see leaflets to go to everybody’s mailbox from the city on how to dispose of trash, locking of the trash cans and how to deal with confrontation with a bear.Darren BridgesAspen
