Basaltines: Get those ballots in today

Election day has arrived in Basalt with races between two candidates for mayor and six candidates competing for three council seats.

There is no polling place because ballots were mailed to all registered voters. It is too late for voters to return the ballots via mail, so they must be delivered to Town Hall, which will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.

The mayoral race is between Jacque Whitsitt and Rick Stevens.

The council candidates are Leroy Duroux, Rob Leavitt, Jennifer Riffle, Herschel Ross, Auden Schendler and Katie Schwoerer.

All terms will be for four years. New council members will be sworn in at a special meeting April 19.
