Basalt will lease old library space

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

BASALT – The Basalt town government plans to lease up to 1,700 square feet in the old library to one or more nonprofit organizations starting next year.

The Basalt library is scheduled to open its new facility by the post office on Jan. 9 and vacate its old facility next to Town Hall in Lions Park. The town government is the landlord for the old library. The town will use some of the roughly 3,600 square feet at the old facility for new offices for its planning and building departments, according to Town Manager Bill Kane. It will advertise the remaining space available starting this month and accept applications from nonprofit organizations until Dec. 30. The town will select a lessee by Jan. 26, and the space will be available March 1.

The lease term will be three years at a rent to be determined. The town will make it clear that there will be no automatic renewal and that the space could be needed by the town after three years.
