Basalt wildland fire quickly suppressed on Saturday afternoon

The Basalt Police Department and Roaring Fork Fire Rescue responded to a wildland fire on Saturday afternoon on Columbine Court. A social media post by the police said the fire had been quickly suppressed.
“Fences have been damaged but no damage to structures in the area. We are investigating to determine the origin of the fire,” the post reads.
The police said the fire was outside of town boundaries and falls into the jurisdiction of the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.
Fire danger was high on Saturday, with midvalley temperatures reaching into the 70s with gusty winds.
