Basalt to light tree Saturday
Downtown Basalt will host a downtown Christmas-tree lighting and party from 3 to 5 p.m. today.
Santa Claus will test which kids will brave the low temperatures to see him by appearing in Lions Park near the Basalt Chamber of Commerce’s Red Caboose from 3 to 5 p.m. Wagon rides also will be offered from that vicinity between 3 and 5 p.m.
Students from the Basalt middle and high schools will be caroling at roughly 4:30 p.m. Basalt Mayor Jacque Whitsitt will flip the switch to the lights on the spruce tree in Lions Park at about 5 p.m.
