Basalt throws downtown block party

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

BASALT – Basalt is kicking off the summer Saturday with a downtown block party from 3 to 9 p.m.

Midland Avenue, the town’s main street, will be blocked to vehicles for the party. A stage will be set up for live music and a mariachi band will wander among revelers. There will also be a beer garden set up and merchants will hold sidewalk sales.

There will not be free food like the past two summers. Restaurants will have booths set up for food purchases.

The block party is the first Saturday Night Live in Basalt! event. A committee comprised of town government and Basalt Chamber of Commerce folks is organizing events on the second Saturday of each month during the summer.
