Basalt River Days needs financial support

BASALT – The revenue stream is running low for River Days.

The Basalt Chamber of Commerce says $6,000 still needs to be raised to hold the annual summer celebration.

“We really need the community to come together and help fund this event to make it happen this year,” said Heather Smith, executive director of the chamber.

River Days is scheduled to be held in conjunction with Basalsa and the Sunday Market to create a three-day festival Aug. 13-15. Basalsa, a nod to Basalt’s Hispanic community, will kick off the weekend on Friday night. River Days would start on Saturday with the Basalt Lions Club pancake breakfast and end with a reunion of the band Starwood at night.

Festivities will continue on Sunday with the market near town hall.

Smith sent a blast e-mail to chamber members Wednesday with a plea for donations and sponsorships for River Days. “This community event will not happen without community support!” the e-mail said.
