BASALT ” The organizers of the Basalt Sunday Market are on a roll. After working over the winter to plan a summer farmers’ and artisans’ market, they secured money on Tuesday from the town government for the event.

The Town Council voted unanimously to provide $5,000 to help launch the event. Of those funds, $2,000 will be provided to the event committee for seed money for use at its discretion. Another $3,000 will be available for marketing, promotions and lining up musicians.

The Basalt Sunday Market plans to launch June 21 and conclude Oct. 4. The market hours will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Sunday, rain or shine.
