Basalt kids plan Earth Day parade

BASALT – Students in Basalt schools and preschools plan to hold a parade to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day Thursday.

The youngsters will line up at Basalt Elementary School on Cottonwood Drive at 9:45 a.m., then wind their way to Basalt Town Hall starting at 10 a.m. A proclamation at Town Hall will be held immediately after the parade.

All schools and preschools are welcome to participate. Organizers are encouraging earth-friendly costumes, hats, banners and decorations.
