Basalt holiday tree will be lit Friday

Aspen, CO Colorado

BASALT ” Basalt will ring in the holidays Friday with its annual lighting of a giant fir tree located downtown.

The event starts at 4 p.m. near the Basalt Chamber of Commerce caboose in Lions Park. Santa Claus will arrive at 4 p.m. to hear wishes of good boys and girls until 6:30 p.m. Homemade cookies will be provided by Beta Chi Soroity; cocoa will be served by the Basalt Lions Club; and chili will be dished out by the Basalt Regional Heritage Society. Entertainment will be provided by the Basalt Middle School Choir. Matt Nieslanik and his horses Kibbles and Bits will offer rides in their wagon.

Mayor Leroy Duroux will do the honors of hitting the switch to the lights on the tree at 6 p.m.
