Staff report
The Aspen Times
Aspen, CO, Colorado
Jim Paussa/paussa.comBasalt police and rescue officials scrambled to Cedar Drive around 12:35 p.m. Wednesday for the report of a car off the road, precariously perched above a steep embankment. A female passenger was able to get out of the car, but the driver was stuck inside when an officer and an ambulance arrived. They eventually got him out by helping him across the center console. The driver was headed downhill. He stopped and backed up when he spotted someone he knew. The car was sucked onto the soft shoulder of the road about one-quarter mile above the intersection with Sopris Drive.
