Basalt chamber elects board

BASALT ” Three incumbents and two newcomers were selected to serve on the Basalt Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors by the membership in a Jan. 17 election.
The incumbents re-elected to the 2008 board were Brad Elliott, David Fiore and Tony Thompson. Basalt retailers Lynne Mace and Brent Wenner were elected as new members, according to the chamber’s newsletter.
Elliott is the owner of Brad Elliott Architect Inc. Fiore is president of Western Peak LLC, an investment and real estate development firm. Thompson is president of Alpine Bank’s Willits branch.
Mace is owner of the historic Toklat Gallery, which she relocated from Ashcroft to Basalt in August 2005. Wenner is co-owner of Wienerdog Kids Toys, which has stores in Basalt, Snowmass Village and Florida.

There is a lot of pent up energy among hikers and bikers to get into the high country, but snow fields, avalanche debris and high stream crossings are presenting challenges later than usual.
