Basalt candidates to attend meet-and-greet event Thursday
Basalt’s two candidates for mayor and six candidates for three open council seats have been invited to attend a meet-and-greet event that is open to the public tonight.
A group called the Midvalley Visionaries is hosting the event at 6 p.m. at the Brick Pony bar and restaurant on Midland Avenue. The Midvalley Visionaries was created in the fall as a social and political networking group for younger generations.
“Come enjoy a beer and some French fries while engaging one on one with Basalt candidates,” the invitation said. “Get informed before you vote. We expect everyone to be on their best behavior.”
Two forums also are being planned. The Basalt Chamber of Commerce will host a forum March 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Grace Community Church. Aspen Public Radio is planning a forum March 17. Details will be released at a later time.
