Basalt candidates forum set

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

BASALT – The only forum for the Basalt Town Council candidates will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the new Basalt library.

The Basalt Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event. The format will allow candidates to make opening statements, then they will answer three questions selected by a chamber panel. The final 40 minutes will be devoted to audience questions.

There are three seats for election on the seven-member council. None of the incumbents is seeking re-election. The candidates are Anne Freedman, Mary Holley, Patrick Maley, Jim Paussa, Glenn Rappaport and Karin Teague.

Holley and Teague won’t attend because of prior commitments. They are on spring break with their families.

The forum will be broadcast numerous times on GrassRoots TV, cable channel 12, from March 26 through election day on April 6.

The Aspen Times will run profiles of the candidates and their answers to selected issues Monday through Friday, March 29-April 2.
