Longtime valley resident Barbara Popish passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, surrounded by her family. She was 75 years old.

She was born Barbara Jean Hauth on Sept. 14, 1932, in Independence, Mo., to Ted and Alma (Cage) Hauth. She moved with her family to the Roaring Fork Valley in 1947. She married Joseph W. Popish on Oct. 4, 1952, and they lived in Aspen until they retired to Carbondale in 1986.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 54 years, sons Edward of Rome, Italy, and Tony (Sally) of Carbondale, grandsons Kyle of Carbondale and Danny (Sarah) of Basalt, brother Eldon (Jean) Hauth of Beaumont, Texas, and a multitude of extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Al Barbier.



Barbara will be missed by all who loved her. Services are Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary of the Crown in Carbondale.
